“We stressed about providing assistance to Syrians in the restoration of civilian infrastructure destroyed during the war, as well as providing urgent humanitarian aid in the fight against results of coronavirus infection,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the joint press conference with his Turkish and Qatari counterparts held in Doha, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.

“It is clear that the illegitimate unilateral sanctions of the West hinder the solution of these urgent tasks. These sanctions have been applied against the legitimate authority of the Syrian Arab Republic, but more against the people of Syria,” stressed the head of the Russian MFA.

According to S. Lavrov, consultations among Russia, Qatar, and Turkey on Syria do not replace Astana format: “It only completes Astana format.”
