The US and European countries are not interested in good relations between Russia and Germany, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the Soloviev LIVE Youtube channel, APA reports citing TASS.

"I am confident that the Americans, just like other countries on the European continent, do not need good relations between us and Germany," he said. "The English do not need them, as a matter of fact, either, just like the West did not need a united Germany at the time."

As Lavrov recalled, it was the Soviet Union that was the main supporter of Germany’s reunification. "The West was very much worried back then and reluctantly went for agreements on Germany’s reunification. We believed that the German people have the right to be united, this is their historic destiny as a nation," the minister added.
