Moscow hit by exceptional snowfall

According to preliminary calculations, since the beginning of the snowfall, 27 mm of precipitation have fallen in Moscow, which is 75% of the monthly norm, APA reports.

This was reported to Interfax on February 13 by the Moscow Meteorological Bureau.

“From Friday night to Saturday 9:00, which is about 30 hours, three quarters of the monthly rainfall fell in the city,” – said a representative of the department.

According to him, these data were obtained from the main meteorological station of the capital at VDNKh.

In Moscow for February, the monthly rainfall is 36 mm.

The representative of the meteorological office added that in the VDNKh area by 9:00 am on Saturday, the height of the snow cover had reached 56 cm. According to preliminary estimates, in some districts of Moscow the snowdrifts have grown to 65-70 cm, and this is not the limit.

On Saturday, forecasters predict cloudy weather, blizzard, heavy snow and ice. In the daytime, the air temperature will be from minus 10 to minus 12 degrees. By nightfall it will get colder to 19 degrees.

Snowfall in the capital will subside no earlier than 15:00 Saturday, precipitation will completely stop by Sunday evening.
