Putin signs decree to ease Russia's lockdown

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Monday to begin gradual easing of the lockdown imposed over the coronavirus pandemic nationwide, APA reports citing Tele Trader. 

"Thanks to the measures taken in advance, many thousands of lives have already been saved, and of course, the decisive role here belongs to doctors, nurses. Starting from May 12, wherever possible, it is necessary to create conditions for the restoration of the activities of enterprises in the basic sectors of the economy" Putin said in a televised address to the nation.

The president added governors will "make decisions on the nature of restrictive measures, on how and in what order they can be gradually softened or maintained" in their respective regions.
