Russia confirms 22,850 new COVID-19 cases

Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 22,850 in the past day, reaching 3,471,053, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Wednesday, APA reports citing TASS.

In the past five days the average growth rate did not exceed 0.7%.

Russia’s coronavirus recoveries rose by 28,658 to 2,854,088 over the 24 hours, the anti-coronavirus crisis center said on Wednesday.

Recoveries surpassed new cases for the second day in a row. According to data from the crisis center, the share of recovered patients has grown to 82.2%.

In particular, 3,425 coronavirus recoveries were recorded in St. Petersburg in the past day, 1,588 in the Moscow Region, 479 in the Rostov Region, 473 in the Ivanovo Region and 468 in the Republic of Crimea.

The number of COVID-19 fatalities in Russia over the past 24 hours has increased by 566 compared to 531 the day before. In all, 63,370 patients died of the infection, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Wednesday.

This is a record high since the beginning of the year. The last time the crisis center reported more fatalities was on December 31 when 593 deaths were registered.

According to the crisis center, the provisional lethality of the disease (the final one can be determined only after the end of the epidemic) has risen to 1.83%.
