UN GA Special session initiative by Azerbaijan President starts from today
- 10 July 2020
Discussions on holding a special session of the UN General Assembly on the coronavirus, initiated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the Non-Aligned Movement summit, will begin on July 10, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the "Primakov Readings" international scientific-practical forum today, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
"We know, of course, that a special session of the UN General Assembly on COVID 19 will be convened at the initiative of the Non-Aligned Movement chaired by Azerbaijan, but this session will take place later. Today, July 10, the formation of the rules of procedure for convening a special session is just beginning, because all events held in an unusual distance format in the context of coronavirus infection must be agreed in terms of organizational and procedural aspects, so today only procedural issues will be discussed. The date of convening the meeting has not been set yet," he said.
