Former Armenian Finance Minister to remain in custody

The Court of Appeal of Yerevan denied the petition of the lawyers of former chairman of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee, ex- Finance Minister Gagik Khachatryan to release their defendant, APA reports citing aysor.am.

His lawyer stated that his defendant does not admit the accusations.

Note that Khachatryan is charged for embezzlement in particularly large amount. He has also been involved in other case and is charged for abuse of power and embezzlement in particularly large amount. Gagik Khachatryan was appointed as chairman of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee in 2008 and left in 2014 to become finance minister. He stepped down in 2016.
