OSCE estimates project for ethnic minorities in Georgia

Baku. Tamara Grigorieva –APA. Professor of political sciences of Carleton University of Canada Peter Dukevic visited Kvemo-Kartli region of Georgia for estimating of the project carried out by the OSCE High Commission on National Minorities in the region populated by Azerbaijanis, Armenians and Greeks, APA reports. Peter Dukevic conducted monitoring of living conditions of ethnic minorities and protection of their rights. The political scientist reported that most of the representatives of ethnic minorities living in this region couldn’t speak and understand in Georgian. “This factor prevents them to participate in the political and cultural life of the country. The language problem is not so topical among the young peoples of Marneuli region, where 83 per cent of the population are Azerbaijanis.
