31 injured in clashes on Kyrgyz-Tajik border-UPDATED-1

Thirty-one people were injured in clashes on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Health Ministry said on Friday, APA reports citing Anadolu Agency.

The conflict on the border continues, according to Kyrgyz security sources.

The State Committee for National Security said the Tajik side set fire to border villages in Kyrgyzstan, including Kulundu, Maksat, and Dzhani-Dzher.

The two countries’ foreign ministers discussed the situation at the border, according to information obtained by Anadolu Agency from the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, they underlined the importance of solving the problems at the border through political and diplomatic means.

The ministry issued a protest note to the Tajik side regarding what it called their illegal and destructive actions.

The situation remains tense along the entire perimeter of the Tajikistan-Kyrgyz border, APA reports.

Kyrgyzstan declared that the other side used tanks, BMPs and mortars and that 11 of its soldiers were injured.

Officials in Isfara, Tajikistan, said that one civilian was killed and three others were injured.

"Despite the efforts made on achievement of the ceasefire, the Tajik side continues deploying heavy weaponry to the border conflict zone and uses all available weapons attacking the territory of Kyrgyzstan and trying to capture the territory of Kyrgyzstan, "APA reports citing the State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan stated.

Intensive clashes are ongoing along the perimeter of the shared border.

The Border Guard Service of Kyrgyzstan keeps rebuffing the military aggression of Tajikistan, the statement said.
