CSTO makes maximum use of international peacekeeping experience - Lavrov

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is making the maximum use of peacekeeping experience, accumulated by other international organizations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview for a documentary, headlined ‘CSTO Allies - 30 Years on Guard of Collective Security,’ APA reports citing TASS.

"We are trying to make the maximum use of other international organizations’ experience, including in the peacekeeping domain. There are agreements between the CSTO and the CIS [the Commonwealth of Independent States], between the CSTO and SCO [the Shanghai Cooperation Organization]," he said. "A trilateral agreement has been signed in Moscow between the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the CIS anti-terrorism center and SCO’s regional anti-terrorism structure."

Moreover, the CSTO is building ties with various global organizations, Lavrov continued.

"Relations with the UN, its Department of Peace Operations have been established and stabilized. There are also contacts with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the OSCE [Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe]. Contacts are being established with the African Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)," he added.
