Explosion at oil field in Kazakhstan kills two workers

An explosion occurred at an oil field in Kazakhstan, RIA Novosti reports. Two workers were killed and three others were injured, APA reports citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The incident happened at the Tengiz field. The press service of the police specified that “there was a pipe explosion.”

Workers born in 1985 died. Three workers are being helped – they have various bodily injuries.

An investigation has been launched on the fact of the explosion under the article on violation of labor protection rules.

Tengiz ranks second in terms of oil reserves and is considered the largest development in the republic. The deposit was discovered in 1979.

Earlier, two workers died as a result of a rock collapse at the Raspadskaya-Koksovaya mine in the Kemerovo region. The body of one of the miners was raised to the surface on July 6.
