Former director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service dies

The former director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Vyacheslav Trubnikov, has died. This was reported to the SVR, APA reports citing TASS.

“The Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation regrets to announce that on April 18, 2022, the Hero of Russia, retired army general, veteran of the SVR Vyacheslav Ivanovich Trubnikov passed away. The leadership and staff of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Vyacheslav Ivanovich, ”Sergey Ivanov, head of the Foreign Intelligence Service press bureau, told TASS.

Vyacheslav Trubnikov was 77 years old. In the Soviet years, Trubnikov worked in the KGB of the USSR, served in foreign intelligence. From 1996 to 2000, he served as director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation.
