Former Kazakh National Security Committee chairman Karim Masimov was detained, the National Security Committee said, APA reports citing AKI Press.
On January 6, a pre-trial investigation into high treason was launched, the statement said.
On the same day, Masimov and other persons were detained and placed in a temporary detention facility on suspicion of high treason.
Karim Masimov was dismissed as Chairman of the National Security Committee on January 6.
