National Iranian Gas Company and Russian company Gazprom signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday following Russian President Vladimir Putin's and his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi's meeting today in Iran, APA reports citing Tasnim News Agency.

The new deal between the two companies means that multibillion-dollar investments will be made in the Iranian oil sector, the agency said, referring to them as the biggest foreign investments that have been made so far in Iran's oil industry. The agreement will also include the development of the two gas fields - North Pars and the sites at the field near Kish Island, the Iranian company's executive director noted.
