"Agitation is something that is published at the initiative of the speaker as an advertisement, while the initiative to conduct an interview with Sergey Lavrov did not come from the Russian Foreign Ministry, but from Italian journalists," Maria Zakharova responded to the criticism of the Italian authorities that this interview was supposedly “a session of political agitation,” APA's correspondent in Moscow reports.

Maria Zakharova in her Telegram channel responded to the words of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, who said that the interview of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to the Italian TV channel was “a session of political agitation.”

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Italian politicians are misleading their public.

"Agitation is what is published on the initiative of the speaker like advertising," Zakharova said.

The initiative to conduct an interview with Lavrov did not come from the Russian Foreign Ministry, but from Italian journalists, she explained.

Zakharova said that the ministry receives many requests for an interview with Sergei Lavrov. Italian journalists, she said, were pushy and said it was important for them to show all points of view.

"Where are they wrong? Zakharova asked.

The diplomat also stressed that he formulated the questions that the host asked himself, the Russian Foreign Ministry did not make any adjustments to the questions or to the final version of the interview.
