Moldova officialy confirms detention of Igor Dodon-UPDATED

The detention of former Moldovan President Igor Dodon has been officially confirmed, said Elena Kazakov, acting head of the Anti-Corruption Center of the Moldovan Prosecutor's Office, APA reports citing RIA Novosti.

According to him, Igor Dodon, accused of corruption and treason, was detained for 72 hours.


The Kremlin said on Tuesday it was concerned by the reported detention of Moldova's pro-Russian former president Igor Dodon, APA reports citing Reuters.

Dodon was detained by Moldovan authorities on Tuesday morning, a senior official in his Party of Socialists told journalists.

"Of course, we are concerned," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in a conference call with reporters, when asked about the reports. "We hope that Dodon's rights will be respected."
