Parliament Speaker Talant Mamytov today has resigned, APA reports citing Akipress.

"Almost one year passed after you elected me as Speaker. I made all efforts to justify expectations. Many good things were done, including on Kumtor. The Parliament of the 7th convocation made important decisions of the country. It was important for me that our decisions would be beneficial for the people and the country," he said.

"I decided to resign as Speaker. This is my personal decision. I think you will understand me right. The Speaker's post is vacant since today, I tendered resignation," he said.

Mamytov then left the plenary session room of the Parliament.

According to procedural rules of the Parliament, the Parliament acknowledges the resignation of the Speaker, Vice Speaker Ulan Primov (Alay district) said.

Nurlan Shakiev is a candidate from Ata Jurt Kyrgyzstan faction for Speaker.

Talant Mamytov has been Parliament Speaker since November 2021. In December 2021, he was elected as the Parliament of the 7th convocation.
