Russian temporary charge d'affaires in Vilnius Sergey Ryabokon discussed on Monday possible ways Russia could answer to Lithuania's blockade of the Kaliningrad transit, noting that Moscow could do the same with the transit of goods going to the European Union by rail through the territory of Russian Federation, APA reports citing Teletrader.

In an interview with Russia 24, Ryabokon paid attention to the fact that Lithuania is a part of an electric ring formed by Russia, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, according to which Vilnius would get help from Moscow through an exchange of electricity in case of an emergency, and warned that Moscow could use this as a countermeasure.

The news comes not long after the Kaliningrad customs service said earlier today that more than 300 trucks were queuing at the Russian-Lithuanian border this morning in their attempt to exit the Kaliningrad region. Finally, the issue was also addressed today by Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterpart from Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who discussed a possible joint response to the situation as the number of trucks waiting at the border is going up rapidly every day.
