The authorities of St. Petersburg will cancel New Year’s events this winter, and the money saved will be used to equip volunteers and mobilized, said the governor of the region Alexander Beglov on October 7 in his Telegram channel, APA reports citing Scoop Trade.

“At a meeting with members of the city government, we decided to cancel the planned festive events on the occasion of the New Year. There will be no concert on Palace Square and Nevsky Prospekt, fireworks, a charity reception in the Tauride Palace. But we will keep New Year’s programs for families with children and the traditional “Children’s Trees” in the city calendar,” he said.

Beglov also added that the savings will be used to help supply mobilized citizens.

“We use the saved funds to purchase additional equipment and equipment for volunteers and those mobilized under a special item allocated in the budget of St. Petersburg for the purchase of additional equipment and equipment for volunteers and mobilized,” the governor summed up.
