"The border delimitation process may take several years, and therefore Armenia is considering signing a framework agreement with Azerbaijan instead of a peace treaty," said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the parliament, APA reports citing Sputnik Armenia.

According to Prime Minister Pashinyan, the completion of the border delimitation and demarcation process does not seem realistic during the signing of the peace agreement.

"For this, Yerevan is in favor of demilitarizing the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, starting with the mutual withdrawal of troops and using the maps of 1990 as the basis for determining the border. Then we deploy border guards, and thus this issue is closed for a while. Then we sign the framework document and start delimitation, which can last more than a year," he said.

Prime Minister Pashinyan said that the framework agreement would correct the current situation in general without specifying any serious details. "Experience shows that trying to detail can lead to difficulties in negotiations," he added.
