“In the negotiations held in Astana, Russia tried to dissuade Turkiye from operations that can lead to an escalation in the Middle East,” said Alexander Lavrentiev, Russian Special Representative to Syria, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
“We used the Astana platform to conduct detailed talks with our Turkish counterparts and tried to dissuade them from conducting large-scale land operations. We believe that in that case escalation of violence can seriously grow not only in Syria’s northern-eastern region, in Syria but also in all Middle East region,” stressed a Russian diplomat at the press conference on the finals of the 19th international region of Astana format over Syria.
