Raisi: "Russia and Iran neutralize impact of sanctions together"-UPDATED

"Iran refuses to recognize sanctions against Russia," said Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi at a meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Uzbekistan, APA's bureau in Tehran reports.

Raisi has noted that Russia and Iran neutralize impact of US sanctions together: "Tehran will continue to strengthen relations with Moscow."

V. Putin has noted at the meeting that Russia has made all kinds of efforts for Iran's being a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation: "Our partners in the Organization supported your will. Mutual trade with Iran increased by 81% last year, while by further 30% in the first five months of this year."

Presidents of Russia and Iran Vladimir Putin and Ebrahim Raisi met as a part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, APA reports citing TASS.

At the meeting held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Putin expressed satisfaction with Iran's joining the SCO.

"There are formal issues left to finalize the membership process. Relations between Iran and Russia are developing in all directions.

The Russian leader also stated that the positions of Moscow and Tehran coincide on many international issues.
