Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto discussed energy cooperation on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement released Friday, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"The foreign ministers of the two countries discussed promising areas of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Hungary, as well as practical tasks for further development in the field of energy given the unfavorable international situation," said the note.
The meeting comes after Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) ruled that Hungary can no longer be seen as a full democracy, thus revoking financial aid previously granted to Budapest.
