"European Commission believes that Russia intends to “wipe Ukraine off the map of the world,” so the European Union will continue to supply Kyiv with weapons and put pressure on the Russians with sanctions," said the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, speaking to students at Princeton University in the United States, APA reports citing Sputnik.

According to von der Leyen, Russia is conducting a special operation to erase Ukraine from the world map.

“This is an attack on our world order. This is an attack on our values and this is a war of democracy against autocracy,” she said.

The head of the European Commission recalled that the European Union from the first days “came to the aid of Ukraine, with its weapons and financial assistance.”

Von der Leyen reiterated that the EU sanctions against Russia are “adopted to remain in place.” She believes that these sanctions against Russian citizens are “very effective.” In her opinion, thanks to Europe, “the Russian financial system is in intensive care, and the industry of the Russian Federation is torn to shreds.”
