Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Sunday said Moscow welcomes the decision of the Arab League to allow Syria to participate in the activities of the organization after a 12-year break, APA reports citing Teletrader.
Zakharova called the move was a logical result of the process of returning Syria to the Arab family, which has gained momentum. She also said that the Russian authorities have been consistently calling on Arab capitals to restore full-fledged relations with Damascus.
"We expect that the Arab countries will increase support for Syria in solving the problems of its post-conflict reconstruction, which is complicated by the illegitimate unilateral sanctions in force against Damascus," Zakharova stated.
