“Russia attaches a special importance to the assistance for increasing potential of Armenian Armed Forces,” said Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Shoigu at the meeting with his Armenian counterpart Suren Papikyan took place within the framework of the meeting of defense ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the CIS countries in Moscow, APA reports.
It was noted that Armenian and Russian Defence Ministers approved the cooperation plan between the two countries for next year.
“Armenia is our ally in the Collective Security Treaty Organization and our main strategic partner in the South Caucasus. We are very interested in the protection and maintenance of stability in this region and show all our efforts in this regard. We attach particular importance to the development of bilateral cooperation and the aid in the field of the increasing potential of Armenian armed forces,” added Shoigu.
