Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has arrived in the Kaliningrad region where he will chair a meeting on national security, the RIA news agency said on Tuesday, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

The meeting will be held amid an alarming situation with Lithuania's embargo on the transit of a number of goods subject to EU sanctions from Russia's main territory.

"The meeting will be attended by Alexander Gutsan, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the North-West Federal District, heads of regions of the North-West Federal District, and representatives of a number of ministries and departments," press service of the Security Council stated.

It was also stated that Patrushev's visit to Kaliningrad was planned even before Lithuania imposed restrictions on transit to the Kaliningrad region and had no direct connection with these events.
