At the talks with UN representatives in Geneva, the Russian delegation focused on the remaining Western restrictions on exports of Russian agricultural products, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin told reporters on Saturday, APA reports citing TASS.

"On the one hand, we can hear talks about global food security, about the threat of hunger, or we even hear accusations against Russia, but on the other hand, we are not allowed to do elementary things free of charge by those who imposed sanctions and those who show excessive enthusiasm in implementing those sanctions - which is defined by the English word ‘over-compliance’. We touched upon all these issues at the consultations," the high-ranking diplomat said.

Moscow intends to carry on with negotiations with the United Nations on implementation of the Russian part of the grain deal, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister told.

"I think we can assume that there will be more consultations in order to promote the implementation of the Russia-UN memorandum," he said when asked about if more rounds of talks with the UN were possible until the end of the year.

Russia and African countries have a range of projects on fertilizer imports there free of charge, Vershinin said.

"It is that part of the mineral fertilizers which were seized in European ports and which we are able to export at our expense. The fertilizers will also go free of charge to those African countries. In addition, we are engaged in a number of projects with other countries," Vershinin said, commenting on UN reports that the first batch of Russian fertilizers blocked in European ports would go to Malawi in the coming week.
