Russia will "not remain indifferent" if Finland joins NATO, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said on Monday, APAs Moscow correspondent reports.
Finland and Sweden are deliberating applying for membership in the alliance, with the Finnish Minister for European Affairs Tytti Tuppurainen stating it is "highly likely" her country will become a NATO member.
Grushko told Ria Novosti that Russia's military "will consider all the necessary measures that will be required to ensure the legitimate interests of defense." He warned that Finland's NATO membership " will not strengthen the security of either Finland or NATO."
