Two military districts – Moscow and Leningrad – will be created in Russia to guarantee the security of the country. This was stated today, January 17, by Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu at a meeting on increasing the size of the country’s armed forces, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

“President of the Russian Federation decided to increase the size of the armed forces to 1.5 million servicemen. Guaranteed to ensure the military security of the state to protect new subjects and critical facilities of the Russian Federation is possible only by strengthening the key structural components of the armed forces: to create two new inter-service strategic territorial associations of the armed forces – the Moscow and Leningrad military districts, “ the minister noted.

He added that self-sufficient groupings of troops (forces) would be deployed on the territories of the new subjects of Russia.
