“Certainly, it is a big crime, we have stated this many times both at the level of UNESCO and other international organizations” said the minister of Culture Anar Karimov in reply to the question of journalists regarding the scraping off 8-century frescoes from the Khudavang monastery, APA reports.
He noted that this act of Armenians is vandalism and contradicts to the 1970 UNESCO convention: “We resolutely denounce this and will continue our work in this regard. We will inform UNESCO about it and try to give a legal assessment to this event by UNESCO”.
