Academician Vasim Mammadaliyev to be buried in II Alley of Honor

The farewell ceremony of academician Vasim Mammadaliyev will be held at Baku State University at 13:00- 15:00, Salam Mammadaliyev, nephew of V. Mammadaliyev told APA.

Academician Vasim Mammadaliyev will be buried in the Second Alley of Honor.

Note that, the well-known theologian, scientist of oriental studies, honored science worker Vasim Mammadaliyev died on October 13, at the age of 77 after a long-lasting illness.

Vasim Mammadaliyev was born on August 27, 1942, in Kurdakhani village of Baku. He studied at school number 113 in Baku from 1949-1959. He, together with academician Ziya Bunyadov, for the first time, translated the Koran into the Azerbaijani language during the Soviet regime.
This translation, first released in 1991, has been published 10 times in different languages up to now. He has supervised more than 30 dissertations and been the official opponent to more than 40 dissertations.

He is the author of 20 books, more than 600 scientific articles. His works have been published in more than 15 countries.

V. Mammadaliyev was also awarded the Order of “Honor” and the Order “Glory”.
