On September the 21st and 22nd, 2022 the State Conservatory of Music Lorenzo Perosi in Campobasso, Italy hosted a masterclass of piano by Tutu Mamedova-Aydınoğlu, concert pianist, Professor of Piano at Istanbul University State Conservatory of Music, APA report.

The event was organized under coordinatorship of Aldo Ragone, concert pianist, pedagogue, and Professor of piano at the aforementioned institution, who led the preparation of this masterclass under the title: "The Baku Academy of Music and the Soviet Piano School in Azerbaijani Tradition".

A remarkable particularity of the event was the performance of Azerbaijani Classical music by Italian students. This way, along with the pieces by Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Liszt, Debussy, Brahms, Chopin, Mendelsohn Bartholdy, Faure, Scriabin, and Prokofiev attendees of the masterclass presented pieces by Fikret Amirov, Kara Karayev, and Ceyhun Allahverdiyev.

Speaking at the event Professor Aldo Ragone emphasized the importance of broadening the repertoire performed by the young generation of pianists. He said: "Classical piano repertoire is one of the richest among all the classical instruments. Yet for European pianists, there is still a lot to explore and gain when it comes to the legacy of classical music. In this context, Azerbaijani classical music is yet an underestimated value of the highest standards, which deserves to be studied and played more. I am happy that some students of our Conservatorio share this enthusiasm with me."

In her turn Tutu Mamedova, who is one of the noted graduates of Baku Academy of Music with an international career, expressed her appreciation for the level of the students that attended her masterclass, praising the impressively rich program they exhibited, underlining that the performance of Azerbaijani music was a surprise and therefore particularly meaningful for her. Tutu Mamedova-Aydınoğlu said: Performing native music is a wonderful feeling for every musician, but practicing it with musicians from other countries and trying to convey to them all the feelings that we have during the performance is quite another. It was very pleasant to work with musicians who perform classical music from other countries at the same excellent level as European music and it is so meaningful to see young people who do their best to create beautiful things for the culture.
