Azerbaijan's Culture Minister called on UNESCO to demonstrate commitment to the conventions it adopted

"I want to urge UNESCO to fulfill its mandate and demonstrate its commitment to the conventions it has adopted," said Culture Minister Anar Karimov at the international scientific conference "The Role of UNESCO Conventions Concerning the Protection of Cultural Properties and Aspects of Improving Their Implementation," APA reports.

The minister noted that UNESCO had not fulfilled its obligations: "Unfortunately, UNESCO has not fulfilled its obligation to protect cultural heritage in accordance with its mandate. This was also negatively accepted by Azerbaijan. Again, I want to call on UNESCO to fulfill its mandate and demonstrate commitment to the conventions it has adopted."
