Official opening of the “Shusha— culture capital of Turkic world 2023” event  was held

On May 12, the official opening ceremony of “Shusha— culture capital of Turkic world 2023” year was held under the organization of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and TURKSOY on May 12, the Ministry of Culture told APA.

Noted that the solemn ceremony was held in Shusha in accordance with the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the measures related to the declaration of the city of Shusha as the "Culture capital of the Turkic World" for 2023".

The event was attended by Sultan Raev, Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkish Culture - TURKSOY, Kumanichbek Omuraliyev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Ganira Pashayeva, Chairman of the Culture Committee of the Milli Majlis, Adil Karimli, Minister of Culture, Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education, Gunay Efendiyeva, President of the International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation and officials, artists and collectives from Turkic states.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony Adil Karimli said that he was pleased to greet the guests in Azerbaijan’s cultural capital, Shusha.
Then the awards of TURKSOY were presented.

Afterwards, the concert program was presented.

In the end, the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, People's Writer Anar presented the award to Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh, Secretary General of TURKSOY, Sultan Raev.

Note that on March 31, 2022, by the decision of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY member countries in the city of Bursa, Republic of Turkiye, the city of Shusha, the ancient cradle of mugham art, was declared the "cultural capital of the Turkic world" for 2023.
