Restoration works of Chiraggala monument have started

Restoration works of Chiraggala monument located at the Shabran district that belongs to V-VI centuries have started, APA reports.

According to the order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on March of this year, 2 million manats are allocated for the fortification and restoration and conservation of Chiraggala, one of the most ancient historical monuments of our country, Fariz Huseynov, press secretary of State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture told APA.

Necessary measures have been taken to restore and conserve the monument in the past period, project documentation is prepared. Restoration works have started since the beginning of July.

Chiraggala has a rectangular shape consisting of 17 constellations, including the central fortress. Only 3 out of these constellations have survived. Generally, restoration works will be carried out at the 8 constellations which traces are known. Archeological research will be conducted.

Due to ensure the convenience of visitors of the historical monuments the pedestrian path will be built along the forest located at the area, as well as along the fortress walls.
