UNESCO positively assesses nominations submitted by Azerbaijan to list of intangible heritage

Azerbaijan's Ministry of Culture has submitted four different nominations to be included in UNESCO's list of intangible heritage this year, Ministry said in a response to APA's query.

These nominations are as following: "Pahlevani and traditional zourkhaneh sports", "Oral traditions of Molla Nasraddin anecdots", "Traditional silk production for sericulture and weaving", "Tea culture, a symbol of identity, hospitality and social connection".

It has been noted that the submitted nominations have already been positively evaluated by the evaluation commission: "The presentation of 4 different nominations in one year is a first in the history of our country. At the end of November, the final commentary on the mentioned nominations will be presented."

The ministry has also added that it is planned to present the balaban instrument together with Türkiye for inclusion in the heritage list: "The balaban instrument will be presented under a multinational nomination."
