Mauritius president to visit Azerbaijan

President Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim of the Republic of Mauritius will visit Azerbaijan for the first time to take part in the 6th Global Baku Forum to be held on March 15-18, the Azerbaijani State Committee on Work with Diaspora told APA.

The event will be organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center with the support of the Azerbaijani State Committee on Work with Diaspora.

President Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim is scheduled to address the 6th Global Baku Forum dedicated to the theme “Bridging Gaps to create Inclusive Societies”. She will be a keynote speaker at one of the panel sessions to be held as part of the forum.

Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim is a biodiversity scientist and was elected as the President and Supreme Commander of Mauritius in 2014 becoming the country's first female president. Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim is laureate of many international awards, including the L'Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science for Africa.

Albanian President Ilir Meta, Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ivanic, Moldovan President Igor Dodon, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and presidents of other countries, prime ministers, ministers, former heads of state and government, members of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, about 500 guests, including prominent public and political figures, are expected to participate in the 6th Global Baku Forum.
