"We tried to ensure IDPs be able to use their constitutional rights in the elections," said Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) today at a press conference following a snap parliamentary election in Azerbaijan, APA reports.

M. Panahov noted that 246 out of 1314 candidates were nominated by party lists: “During the election period, the CEC received 47 appeals, 25 of which were related to registration. In general, there was no particular tension at the registration stage.”

The CEC Chairman noted that the commission decided not to control the campaign of candidates in social networks: “This was especially noted by international organizations. Activity in social networks has become a reason for a special activity in the elections themselves. This practice should be followed in the future.”
