CEC chairman: “56 persons suspended participation in parliamentary elections”

“1611 persons have applied in order to participate in early parliamentary elections scheduled for February 9, 2020, in Azerbaijan, to date,” chairman of Central Election Commission Mezahir Penahov said at the meeting of CEC held today, APA reports.

According to him, 293 of candidates have been nominated by 17 political parties: “13 persons are nominated by initiative groups, 1305 persons stood as a candidate in parliamentary elections individually”

M. Penahov stated that candidacies of 1202 people who applied to participate have been approved: “Of them, 1012 persons have already received their signature sheets, 124 people submitted, 16 have been registered. 56 people suspended their participation. ”
