Members of Parliament representing NAP party appeal to Azerbaijani Parliament with request of dissolution of parliament

The Political Council of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) has made a decision recommending the members of the party representing it in the parliament to raise the initiative of dissolution of the parliament, the Deputy Chairman-Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov stated at the press-conference held today, APA reports.

The NAP executive secretary noted that the reforms should cover all branches of government in order to put on a fully systematic course the reforms implemented in the country and to achieve the objectives which have been put forward: “The NAP members have come to a conclusion that the reforms conducted by President Ilham Aliyev should not overpass the legislative sphere. Today, this has been considered as advisable by the NAP’s Political Council. All members of the Political Council have demonstrated a unanimous position regarding this issue. The renovation of membership of Azerbaijani Parliament is also necessary for successful implementation of the Presidential reforms concept. The Political Council of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) has made a decision recommending the members of the party representing it in the parliament to raise the initiative of dissolution of the parliament. According to the last referendum, President has a right to dissolve the Parliament under certain circumstances. And this measure can create prerequisites for more consistent and broader implementation of the reforms concept”.

A. Ahmadov noted that the members of the Parliament representing the NAP party had accepted with pleasure the decision of the Political Council: “The Members of the Parliament have decided to address an appeal to the Parliament regarding this issue, and that appeal will be sent to the Azerbaijani Parliament. I think that the senior officials of the Parliament will bring up this appeal for discussion at the Parliament in the nearest future”.
