Procedure for financing political parties is changed in Azerbaijan

A new rule is established on the transfer of funds allocated annually from the state budget in equal shares to the bank account of a political party to finance the activities of political parties, starting from the day the Milli Mejlis is formed in the authorized composition following the elections to the Milli Mejlis of the new convocation, it was reflected in the proposed amendments to the Law on Political Parties, which were discussed in the first reading at today's session of the Milli Mejlis, APA reports.
In accordance with the change, 5% of the funds will be distributed in proportion to the number of votes won between political parties, whose candidates won at least 3% of the votes in the elections to the Milli Majlis, but are not represented in the Milli Majlis. 40% of the funds will be equally distributed among the political parties represented in the Milli Mejlis. 50% of the funds will be divided by the number of deputies in parliament (125) and the resulting amount will be multiplied by the number of deputies from political parties represented in the Milli Mejlis, the amount received will be allocated to these political parties.
