Mixail Zabelin: "Unique ethnic peace created in Azerbaijan"

“Protection of national minorities is an integral part of Azerbaijan's state policy. There is not non-tolerance, discrimination or religious discrimination in Azerbaijan,” MP of Azerbaijani Parlimanet Mixail Zabelin at the XVI Baku International Conference of Ombudsmen on the topic of "The role of Ombudsmen in achieving Fair Peace and Sustainable Development Goals", APA reports.
He said that Azerbaijan is a multinational state. However, everybody preserves their own language, religion and speaks their own language. Textbooks and newspapers in Talysh, Lezgi, Georgian languages are being published. Unique ethnic peace has emerged in Azerbaijan.
M. Zabelin noted that the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic has compiled on the basis of international principles. According to this constitution, the states protect everyone’s rights regardless of race, religion, political affiliation and property level. “It is a very important issue. The protection of rights in Azerbaijan have not just reflected in the document, but it also applied. Azerbaijan has accepted mulicultilarism as a state policy.”
Deputy said that there are 16 Russian language school and Russian unit in 342 schools in Azerbaijan currently. “In all universities is the Russian sector. There is not any restriction to enter Russian sectors in Azerbaijan. Russian book houses operate in Baku. The name of some villages is in the Russian language. There are streets named after Russian poets in Azerbaijan.
