The main condition for holding democratic and transparent elections is social and political stability, said Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov.

He made the remarks at a meeting held for heads of the district election commissions, APA reports.

Panahov said all the necessary conditions that can be an exemplary for Europe and Asia were created in Azerbaijan’s district election Commissions.

“The CEC enjoys great authority in society. For already 10 years, chairpersons of 125 district election commissions have been holding the status of deputy heads of district executive authorities. That’s the right decision. However, standards are changing, the activities of lower election commissions should always be improved. We must make sure that elections held in Azerbaijan are highly appreciated abroad. The most actual front of the struggle is election. Elections are used as one of the ways of interference in the internal affairs of countries. We have to convince even those who don’t like us, that elections are held at a high level in Azerbaijan,” the CEC chairman added.

Panahov expressed confidence that in April the Azerbaijani people will write another golden stage in their history and make a right decision.
