Azerbaijan is increasing the fine of 100 manats to a fine of 1,500 up to 2,000 manats for any interference with the voting process.

An amendment in this regard has been made to Article 159 (Impending in implementation of voting right) of the Criminal Code, APA reported.

Moreover, the fine of 200 up to 600 manats for forcing a citizen to vote in favor of a certain candidate or interfering with collection signatures in favor of a candidate will be replaced with 2,000 to 4,000 manats.

Also, the fine of 300 up to 700 manats for forcing a citizen to vote against his will or preventing him from voting will be replaced with a fine of 2,500 up to 5,000 manats.

The amendment was recommended for consideration at the parliament’s upcoming plenary session and will be tabled on April 25.
