Deputy Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), MP Siyavush Novruzov has proposed the adoption of an amnesty act on the occasion of the 95th birth anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

“This year, along with the 100th anniversary of establishment of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic, we will also make a decision on a plan of events to celebrate the 95th birth anniversary of the architect and founder of the modern independent state of Azerbaijan and national leader Heydar Aliyev, who was first to bring to the world the truth about the January 20 tragedy,” the MP said at the parliament’s plenary meeting on Thursday, APA reports.

The lawmaker proposed the adoption of an amnesty act and pardoning a number of prisoners on the occasion of Heydar Aliyev’s 95th birth anniversary.

“Humanism was the main principle in national leader Heydar Aliyev’s activity. Numerous amnesty acts were previously passed on the occasion of the national leader’s birthday. It would be better to prepare such an act again,” he added.
