Azerbaijani parliament begins next plenary meeting

The next plenary meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament kicked off on Tuesday.


Speaker Ogtay Asadov congratulated Mehriban Aliyeva on her appointment as Azerbaijan’s Vice-President on behalf of the MPs, an APA correspondent reported from the parliament.


The speaker highly appreciated Mehriban Aliyeva’s great contribution to lawmaking during her parliamentary activity.


“Mrs. Aliyeva is the author of four amnesty acts that applied to about 10,000 prisoners,” said Asadov, adding. “Mr. Aliyeva also played an exceptional role in the development of inter-parliamentary relations with the US and France. She enjoys great respect and authority among the people as the president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.”  


The speaker noted that this appointment positively affect the country’s socio-political life.


The meeting's agenda includes 13 issues, including annual report of Azerbaijani Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman).
