The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan will make a decision on the holding of extraordinary presidential election on Feb. 6, the CEC told APA.
The decision will be taken at a CEC meeting to be held on Feb. 6.
On February 5, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order announcing the extraordinary presidential election.
Under the order, the extraordinary presidential election will be held on April 11, 2018.
The Central Election Commission has been instructed to ensure the conduct of the presidential election in accordance with the country’s Electoral Code.
According to Article 179.2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, starting from the day of the announcement of extraordinary presidential election by the country’s president, the Central Election Commission shall schedule election for a Wednesday within a week and hold it within 60 days.
