Ilham Aliyev: 4th Islamic Solidarity Games held successfully in Baku

The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games were held successfully in Baku and Azerbaijan won another victory in these competitions, said Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.

 

President Aliyev made the remarks Tuesday while addressing a meeting with the country’s athletes, who won the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games, their coaches, and representatives of Azerbaijan’s sports community, APA reported.  

 

He pointed out that Azerbaijani athletes won 75 gold, 50 silver and 37 bronze medals in the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games and took the lead in medal standings. President Aliyev called this a great historic victory.

 

“This victory has a very solid foundation. These achievements demonstrate the development of the Azerbaijani state. We are proud of our athletes,” said the president.

 

The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games showed that the sound policy pursued in Azerbaijan and the policy in sports yielded results, President Aliyev noted.

 

“Sport plays a special role in the ongoing social processes in the country. A special attitude is shown towards athletes. Every patriot feels proud of the achievements of our athletes,” he added.
