Mehriban Aliyeva’s appointment to be ‘a big help’ in ensuring Azerbaijan’s sustainable development, says official
Mehriban Aliyeva’s appointment as first vice-president of Azerbaijan will be a big help in ensuring the stability, security and sustainable development of the country in the current period, said Novruz Mammadov, deputy head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration and chief of the Administration’s foreign relations department.
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on Feb. 21 to appoint Mehriban Aliyeva the country’s first vice-speaker.
“Mrs. Aliyeva has been doing a lot in the life of the Azerbaijani people and in certain directions of statehood for years. She has made great strides,” said Mammadov.
According to the official, when it was announced immediately after last year’s referendum that the position of first vice-president would be established in Azerbaijan, almost everyone in the country began anticipating that Mehriban Aliyev would qualify for this post.
“This is due to Mehriban Aliyeva’s influence that’s been growing over these years. Both inside and outside the country, Mrs. Aliyeva has a great role and image in the protection and promotion of Azerbaijan’s statehood and interests,” said Mammadov, adding. “Mrs. Aliyeva will do all she can for key directions of Azerbaijani statehood and attain new achievements.”
